FIELD: medical instrumentation engineering, particularly, numerical processing of images of eye fundus and designing of automated diagnostic apparatuses. SUBSTANCE: method includes photographing of patient eye fundus with the help of fundus camera; preliminary selection for each pathology of eye fundus of patient with determined diagnosis; formation on the basis of these images of standards for each type of pathology; localization of optical disc boundary on each of these images; diving of localized zone into equal sections whose brightness is measured for each of three colors: red, green and blue; determination for each color on all localized zone of sum of sections whose brightness corresponds to the given gradation; construction of diagrams of distribution of three main colors by brightness gradation on the basis of obtained data; averaging of these diagrams by each pathology and considering them as standard; processing of eye fundus image of examined patient using the similar procedure; comparison of obtained diagrams with standard diagrams and pathology optic nerve is diagnosed by maximum of criteria similarity.
