FIELD: tools making industry, more particularly manufacture of abrasive material and cutting tools. SUBSTANCE: superhard composite material comprises, wt %: cubic boron powders, 50-95.5, Al and Si compounds, 1-30; and mixture of powders of IV-VII group transition metal compounds, the balance. Particle size of powders is 0.1-10 mcm. Content of highly pure boron in boron powders is at least 50 wt %, total content of impurities of carbon and hexagonal boron, not higher than 0.5 wt %. At least 10 wt % of cubic boron particles are covered with envelope composed from mixture of IV-VII group transition metals. EFFECT: greater mechanical bending strength and high impact resistance of the title material. 1 tbl
