FIELD: composite materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for manufacture of instruments and can be, in particular, use to manufacture cutting tools, milling cutters, and saws for treatment of intractable materials. Furnace charge is prepared from cubic BN powder with particle size below 10 mcm with 5 to 15 wt % of Al and Mg powders with particle size below 40 mcm. Al/Mg atomic ratio is (2.3-1.8):1. Resulting charge is exposed for 30-90 sec to pressure 6-8 GPa at 1500-1700оС, after which temperature is lowered to 900-1000оС and charge is aged during 30-90 sec. Finally heating is stopped and pressure normalized. Composite material thus obtained is characterized by microhardness 30-45 GPa. After testing, wear of back surface of cutter is 0.1-0.2 mm.
EFFECT: diminished laboriousness and duration of process and increased yield of commercial produce.
