FIELD: optical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method includes the following operations. One end of quartz tube with deposited layer of coating and core layer is closed, solution containing erbium and other additive elements is introduced into quartz tube, thereby adsorbing the solution in core layer. Solution is removed from quartz tube upon expiration of preset period of time, quartz tube is clamped in clamping device through connecting tube coupled to quartz tube, closed end of quartz tube is opened, and great amount of gas is introduced into it. Then connecting tube is heated by heating source up to preset temperature, thus heating gas introduced into quartz tube, clamping device is rotated for uniform heating of quartz tube, thereby providing for slow drying of solution adsorbed in core layer of quartz tube. The latter is heated again by heating source thus softening it, and both ends of the tube are soldered completely. Thus optical fiber backing with hollow cylindrical structure is obtained.
