FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: muffler has housing divided into two chamber by partition with by-pass member, inlet and outlet perforated tubes arranged in first chamber in direction of flow. Inlet tube is secured in end face wall of housing and in dividing partition, and its end is arranged in second chamber. Outlet tube is secured in side walls of housing and is furnished with stopper. Muffler has also circular perforated screen enclosing section of inlet tube arranged in zone of first chamber. Space is found between tube and screen. Axes of perforation holes of screen and inlet tube are displaced relative to each other by 0.5-2.0 of diameter of inlet tube perforation holes. Perforated section of inlet tube arranged in first chamber has holes whose summary area is equal to 10-30% of area of tube side surface at diameter of perforation holes equal to 2-15% of its inner diameter, and length of perforated section of screen is equal to 0.4-1.0 of length on inlet tube perforated section.
