FIELD: diabetes treatment means. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to preparing material containing beta-cells from new- born rabbit pancreas and to transplantation methods for treating mainly hormone-linked diabetes mellitus by transplanting beta-cells prepared by utilizing phenomenon of their migration. Isolated pancreatic gland is washed, cut into fragments and thus prepared material is used to sow on cultural mattresses to which also culture medium and mammal serum are added. Further, conditions are created under which more than 90% of beta- cells freely migrate from cultured pancreatic fragments toward bottom of cultural mattress. Treatment of diabetes consists in transplanting thus prepared material into various organs and tissues. EFFECT: simplified procedure, increased yield of non-damaged beta-cells, and increased treatment efficiency. 14 cl, 2 tbl
