SUBSTANCE: invention relates is a method for obtainingβ cells of the pancreas of an adult rabbit. To implement this method, first the pancreas of an adult rabbit is placed in Hanks' solution, cooled to 4°C. Then its capsule is removed, visible blood vessels and excretory ducts are cut into fragments of 2–4 mm in size. Further, these fragments are washed twice with cooled to 4°C With Hank's solution and for 5–7 minutes, carefully grind with sharp eye scissors to obtain particles with a volume of not more than 1 mm3, all these manipulations are carried out at a temperature of 22°C. After that, the resulting tissue suspension is washed at least three times cooled to 4°C by Hank's solution and transferred to a culture flask, into which RPMI-1640 medium is added, without glutamine, with HEPES and incubated in air at 38–40°C for 6–8 days, and the medium is replaced with a fresh one every 2 days.

EFFECT: invention enables efficient, enzyme-free production of islet tissue containing insulin-producing β-cells from the pancreas of adult rabbits.
