INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AIR CLEANING FILTER Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; cleaning of industrial gases and air. SUBSTANCE: proposed cleaner has housing with cover secured on engine and filtering element installed in housing and consisting of concentric external and internal perforated cylinders between which multiple-arm paper curtain is installed. It has also upper and lower flexible covers rigidly installed on end face of perforated cylinders and filtering material placed over outer surface of external cylinder. Filtering material is made of polymeric non-stretchable and elastomer threads tricot cloth in structure of which elastomer thread is arranged between loops of non-stretchable threads with alternation through every other loop and is knitted into loops with non-stretchable thread as follows: through 4-8 loops in wale and through 3-5 rows in course, modulus of non-stretchable thread loops is 3.4 times greater than modulus of elastomer thread loop. EFFECT: improved quality of air cleaning at engine operation owing to provision of filtering surface of increased density, increased service live owing to provision of variable permeability filtering tricot cloth. 1 tbl, 2 dwg
