FIELD: organic chemistry and chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of trifluoromethane sulfoacid that is used as a catalyst in reactions of polymerization, esterification and dehydration. Trifluoromethane sulfoacid is synthesized by hydrolysis of trifluoromethanesulfofluoriide with an aqueous-spirituous mixture at 80-120 C followed by isolation of trifluoromethane sulfoacid as an azeotrope with water and treatment of azeotrope with oleum and distillation off an anhydrous trifluoromethane sulfoacid from obtained mixture. Lower aliphatic alcohols are used in the process of hydrolysis. Method provides an avoidance of salts and solid waste formation. EFFECT: simplified technology, decreased number of stages. 1 tbl, 11 ex
