FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying basic amount of nitrogenous fertilizer in cultivated area during sowing, with basic amount of fertilizer corresponding to basic yield being smaller than maximum yield; applying additional amount of fertilizer in restricted area and measuring gain on cultivated area and on area with additionally applied fertilizer for period beginning from initial time of growing period; comparing gain measured on cultivated area and gain measured on area with additionally applied fertilizer under similar growing conditions. In case gain on area with additionally applied fertilizer exceeds gain on cultivated area, additional amount of fertilizer is applied to cultivated area in accordance with plant gain on area with additionally applied fertilizer as compared to plant gain on cultivated area and amount of fertilizer used on cultivated area.
