FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method is realized by means of planetary head including stationary and movable gears. Abrasive tool with operating end surface is positioned on one axle with moving gear. Stationary gear may be of internal engagement (abrasive grain moves over extended hypocycloid) or external engagement (abrasive grain moves over extended epicycloid). During hobbing of gears abrasive grains of tool move over trajectory including cross-point at which cutting speed vectors intersect at angle of 90 deg. In this case, grains cuts by different edges which facilitates their self-sharpening. Part is moved along normal to tool in trajectory intersection zone. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 2 dwg
