FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to belt grinding and may be used for belt grinding of complex sculpted surfaces such as dies formlining, molds, injection molds and others. The flexible grinding belt with the hollow inner chamber is put on the drive and driven rollers through the nonworking inner surface. Before grinding the belt is tensioned and compressed air is injected into the hollow inner chamber under pressure of 0.2-0.8 MPa. The preform is put on the moving with the cutting speed outer grinding belt layer which takes the shape of the processed surface. At the starting and ending moments of grinding belt contact with the processed surface a cavities are formed into which compressed air is supplied under pressure determined with the listed mathematical relationship and providing a straight-line trajectory of the grinding grain belt coinciding with the cutting speed vector.
EFFECT: invention enables to prevent formation of blockages of the processed surface and increase geometric accuracy of its grinding.
