FIELD: sulfur production. SUBSTANCE: hot air is fed into lower layers of catalyst spread on gas-distribution grate, under which hydrogen sulfide is fed. Reaction zone is cooled by cooling agent supplied through coils. Gaseous reaction products with dispersed sulfur are cooled in reactor outlet zone to 127-158 C with water and then bubbled through bubbling grate and liquid sulfur in sulfur collector operated at the same temperature. Level of liquid sulfur in sulfur collector is maintained by discharging sulfur. Gas phase of product escaping bubbling zone comes into top zone through drop catcher, where it is freed from sulfur drops 1000 mcm in size, and released.
