FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processes of processing hydrogen sulphide-containing gas mixtures to obtain elementary sulphur. Invention relates to an apparatus and a method for gas-phase catalytic oxidation of hydrogen sulphide with oxygen in a fluidised bed. Plant includes an ejector, an oxygen-containing gas supply line to the lower part of the reactor, an inert gas supply line to the ejector, a hydrogen sulphide direct oxidation reactor, in the lower part of which there is a gas distribution grid for the catalyst, heat exchanger, combined unit including connected condenser and bubbler for sulphur condensation and coagulation, sulphur trap for sulphur removal. Method is carried out using a spherical catalyst with an inert material, to control the O2/H2S ratio in the reactor, the oxygen-containing gas is fed to the ejector and into the lower part of the reactor through an additional line or a stream of inert gas is fed to the ejector, and all oxygen-containing gas is supplied to the lower part of the reactor through an additional line.

EFFECT: maintaining optimum ratio of oxygen/hydrogen sulphide in reactor, reducing catalyst load, increasing specific output of produced sulphur, reducing specific metal consumption, increasing environmental reliability and safety of the plant.
