FIELD: chemical industry; natural gas industry; methods of production of the elemental sulfur.
SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertaining to the processes of reprocessing of the hydrogen sulfide containing gases with production of the elemental sulfur. The method of production of the elemental sulfur includes the gas-phase oxidation of the hydrogen sulfide by oxygen in the reactor on the solid catalysts, the selective separation of the sulfur from the reaction products in the sulfur collector by their bubbling through the layer of the liquid sulfur at maintenance in the preset limits of the bubbling level and its temperature equal to the temperature of the reaction products, the subsequent withdrawal of the sulfur from the zone "under the bubbling layer", discharge of the steam-gas mixture and trapping of the drips of sulfur having dimensions exceeding 1000 microns from the "over bubble layer" zone. Before the reactor starting the sulfur collector is filled up to the preset bubbling layer level with ethylene glycol-buffer liquid, the lyophobic liquid into the liquid sulfur, the inert liquid - to the reaction products, and the liquid having the specific weight smaller than the specific weight of the sulfur is bubbled through it at first by the heated air up to reaching the temperature within the limits of 127... 158°С, and then - the reaction products until the settling liquid sulfur expels from the sulfur collector the buffer liquid, which is withdrawn in the process of its substitution. The invention allows to reduce power inputs and to improve safety of the production process.
