SUBSTANCE: method includes local heating of surface to be hardened b supply of current to rotating electrode which is given reciprocating motion in direction of its rotation axis with relative motion of electrode and part. Axis of electrode rotation is positioned with respect to part hardened surface so that plane running through it and its projection onto treated surface makes angle with direction of motion of treated part determining the width of strip of heated surface. In so doing, AC and DC are used simultaneously. EFFECT: simplified conduction of process of heat treatment and increased depth and width of layer under heat treatment. 2 dwg
