FIELD: automatic control of drum-type coolers; ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy; concentration of minerals; processing vanadium-containing slags. SUBSTANCE: method consists in control of density of plug through delivery of water. Innovation of invention consists in additional measurement of rate of flow of change to kiln and power used bu its engine. Ratio "roasted" charge-water in cooler" is maintained at constant level through analysis of curve of transient process by power and stabilization of rate of flow of water to cooler accompanied by correction of proportional content of moisture in charge and escape of dust performed every time upon completion of transient process. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of stabilization of density of pulp fed from cooler to rod mill. 1 dwg
