FIELD: electrothermics; control of production process of calcium carbide smelting in electric ores melting surface. SUBSTANCE: for more accurate termination of moment of tapping calcium carbide and moment of transfer of electrode, use is made of permanent component of phase voltage because certain dependence exists between these parameters. For determination of moment of beginning and end of tapping of melt and moment of beginning and end of transfer of electrode, use is made of empirical formulae which makes it possible to determine preset magnitudes of permanent component of phase voltage for specific furnace. EFFECT: stabilization of smelting process through maintenance of level of melt in furnace basin and enhanced accuracy of correction of loss of electrode; reduced consumption of power and raw materials. 2 cl, 2 dwg
