FIELD: optical communication. SUBSTANCE: combined overhead system for transmission of electric energy and optical signals has upper electric phase wires suspended from towers and supported by them and at least one optical cable that is also suspended from towers and is supported by them. Each optical cable has resistive element which is supported by cable, is mobile and is pulled from tower where it is grounded through part of path along span of optical cable. This resistive element has such length and conductance that if dry zone appears on cable at end of element that difference of potentials through this zone will be insufficient to form arc discharge and/or that induced current will be insufficient to sustain any arc discharge which may emerge in dry zone.
