FIELD: shadow shielding for nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: method involves filling compartment with prepared melt of lithium hydride doped with dispersed tungsten powder followed by its heating to 450-550 C and cooling down at a rate of about 2 C/h. Free space of compartment is filled with molten lithium hydride. Monolith incorporating lithium hydride section and heavy component dispersed into it is hermetically sealed. Such shield is capable of reducing neutron and gamma radiation from nuclear reactor or isotope source. EFFECT: reduced size and mass of multicomponent radiation shield. 2 cl, 1 dwg
