FIELD: radiation protection. SUBSTANCE: radiation shielding with its filling mouth cover preliminarily cut off is placed into sealed furnace together with mold arranged below it. Furnace is filled with argon and radiation shielding is heated at the rate 90-100 C/h to temperature 710 C maintaining top-bottom temperature difference of the order of 30-50 C. Shielding is kept at indicated temperature during 24 h and then chilled at a rate between 40-50 C. After chilling, formed argon-hydrogen gas mixture is pumped away and furnace is filled with fresh argon. After that, furnace is opened and hollow casing of radiation shielding and mold below it filled with lithium hydride are removed form there. EFFECT: achieved environmental safety because of excluded contact of lithium hydride with ambient medium and interaction with oxygen-containing substances. 1 dwg
