FIELD: ionization radiation shields. SUBSTANCE: shady radiation shield has container holding material effectively reducing gamma-ray intensity such as uranium- 238 and container holding lithium hydride. Radially welded into side shell of uranium-238 container are heat pipes whose evaporation section is disposed inside container and condensing section, in shady cone of radiation shield. Vacant space of uranium-238 container is filled with eutectic alloy such as NaK. Uranium- 238 container communicates through pipe with compensating tank to afford thermal expansion of eutectic alloy in the course of operation of nuclear power unit. Compensating tank is mounted in cavity formed by spherical bottom of lithium hydrate container and butt-end shell of uranium-238 container. EFFECT: enhanced intensity of heat transfer between radiation shield material and environment intended to dump excess heat. 1 cl, 1 dwg
