FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: electrode is made of nonmetallic conducting material, for example of graphite. Electrode is enclosed in holder with bottom manufactured of conducting material. External surfaces of holder carry magnets, end faces of which are positioned in one plane with external surface of holder bottom. When welding electrode touches electrode surface its end is heated by short-circuit current, and when it is removed from electrode arc is struck. Then welding electrode is transferred promptly to joint being welded. Its end has not time to get cooled, which ensures stable striking of arc without touching the surface of parts. Device is transferred to the next joint easily, and process is repeated. Device advantage is in conditions of preliminary heating of welding electrode. EFFECT: enhanced stability. 2 cl, 3 dwg
