SUBSTANCE: butt joint is assembled without clearance which is subsequently made by cutting butt joint with cutting gas flow 4, and welding is carried out simultaneously with cutting of butt joint. Welding bath 6 is located in zone of cut. Point of intersection of welding front with weld axis of surface of welded article 8 is arranged at distance equal to 0.5-3.0 of cut width from point of intersection of cutting jet axis with face surface of welded article 8. Power action onto metal of welding bath 6 is provided by cutting gas flow 4. Gas flow entrains liquid metal from welding bath and carries it into clearance. This provides filling up of clearance and transfer of heat deep into butt joint of articles making it possible to carry out single-pass welding.
