FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has vehicle guide arranged above railway tracks in city center, and small-size vehicles moving along guide. Headways are seconds for speed carriage of small group of passengers. Device has location identifier consisting of figure strips with numeric code. Strips are made in form of continuous tape. Bar codes are applied by engraving . Bar code members are secured on control channels at both sides of guide. Sections and corresponding locations of guide are marked in form of figures or letters to determine of vehicle moving along guide. Location identifier is placed opposite to device determining location of vehicles. Location identifier is designed for reading and identifying current location of vehicles from bar codes and transmitting vehicle location identification signals to control device. Control device is arranged close to location identifier. EFFECT: economy is manufacture and operation, enhanced reliability, provision of accurate readoff without errors or confusions. 14 cl, 8 dwg
