FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: product, which is useful as antioxidant, is prepared via aminomethylation of 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol, followed by hydrogenolysis of intermediate Mannich base and isolation of final product by rectification and crystallization. The first stage is carried out in presence of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylcyclohexanol added to initial reaction mixture in amount of 1 to 25 wt %.
