FIELD: hydraulic engineering. SUBSTANCE: method can be used in reconstruction of radial gates at operating hydraulic objects when headwater level is increased. According to method, manufactured is additional span structure with legs folded along structure. Span structure is mounted for example on pontoons in upstream water. Installed on additional span structure is cover member with beams which are pivotally secured on upper part of main span structure. Assembled structure is then lowered to bed bottom. Additional span structure is positioned between cover member and external surface of main span structure. This is ensured due to sufficient length of beams and their curvature which corresponds to curvature of external surface of main span structure. After that, main span structure is lifted and additional span structure is brought under it. Legs of additional span structure are unfolded and fixed in hinge units of main span structure. Then main span structure is lowered for joining with additional span structure and they are fastened together. Upon that, guard member with beams is dismantled. All operations are performed by means of standard hoisting facilities. Application of aforesaid method allows for simplification of operations and for shortening period of their realization.
