FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cast irons which can be used for manufacturing hot-rolling rolls operated at elevated temperatures, great specific loads, and high rolling speeds, in particular, for rolls of finishing and prefinishing mills of continuous stands and for manufacturing sidewalls for reinforced hot-rolling backup rolls. Cast iron is composed of, wt %: carbon 3.1-3.5, silicon 0.15-0.45, manganese 0.8- 1.5, chromium 10.5-13.5, sulfur 0.02-0.09, phosphorus 0.02-0.55, iron - the balance. Cast iron has elevated level of eutectic and carbides in fine and uniformly distributed form releasing no graphite. Hardness of cast iron attains 745 kg/sq.mm. EFFECT: increased wear resistance, viscosity, heat resistance, and workability. 2 tbl, 14 ex
