FIELD: measurement of aggregate of repeating time intervals. SUBSTANCE: prior to start of measurement period of vernier signal Ta is set to achieve accuracy Tv so that difference of periods of main signal Tm and vernier signal Tv will not exceed Ta by absolute value. Then required number of measurements are taken and codes of number of pulses of vernier signal before coincidence of main and vernier signals are recorded. Interpolation factor K defined more accurately and setting period of vernier signal according to formula Tv= Tm(K±1)/K, is determined as difference between maximal and minimal values of recorded code plus one or as maximal value of recorded codes. Determination of interpolation factor makes it feasible to diminish requirements to stability of period of vernier signal without deterioration of accuracy of vernier method. EFFECT: diminished requirements to stability of period of vernier signal. 2 cl, 4 dwg
