FIELD: electric and light converters. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for design of gaseous-discharge lamps adopted for conditions with high requirements for electric protection. Contactless excitation of ion current in gaseous discharge lamp is provided by induction of emf by variable magnetic field of primary winding of shell-type transformer that is positioned outside on end of lamp in secondary high-voltage winding of this transformer located opposite to this lamp and connected to electrodes which causes lighting of lamp. Voltage across electrodes drops to value sustaining glow of gas in lamp thanks to internal resistance in transformer. It is easy to remove primary winding with magnetic core of transformer and to insulate it. EFFECT: improved reliability of method. 2 cl, 1 dwg
