FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: device includes tubular annular transparent flask filled with discharge gas with mercury vapours, annular magnetic conductor put on the flask with winding connected to power source generating 440 kHz current. Additionally the magnetic conductor features winding used to achieve initial gas ionisation required for discharge, start electrodes are positioned outside the flask, and the flask is made of transparent material retaining radiation in 185 nm wavelength band.
EFFECT: simplified, cheaper device design along with improved reliability, manufacturability and safety.
