FIELD: radio engineering. SUBSTANCE: increased measurement accuracy and provision for measurement of effective area of surface of antenna and its radiation pattern in wide band of frequencies are ensured by way of discrete tuning of signal generator 8 in specified range of frequencies by means of clock pulse generator 1, first electron key 2.1, binary counter 3 and first digital-to-analog converter 7.1, by radiation of energy of generator 8 into space by examined antenna 24, by reception of radiated energy by second examined antenna 25 identical to first examined antenna 24, by measurement of level of signal across output of examined antenna 25 with the use of tunable filter 10 and power meter 4, by measurement of frequency of emitted signal by frequency meter 15, by computation of effective area of surface of antenna with the help of unit 5 of square root extraction, digital divider 11 and digital multiplier 19, by rotation of receiving antenna 25 with the use of mechanism 16 fitted with transducer of angle of turn, by conversion of level of signal measured by power meter with the aid of second digital-to-analog converter 7.2 and by recording of radiation pattern of antenna on information storage medium in recorder 17.
