SUBSTANCE: 3- (piperidinyl-1)-chromane-5,7-diol and 1-(4- hydroxyphenyl)-2-piperidinyl-1)alkanol derivatives of general formula I: R2 and R5 or pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof wherein (a) R1, R2, R3 and R4 are taken individually and C1-C6 are independently hydrogen, OR7 alkyl, halogen, OH or R5<and R2 and R5 is methyl; or (b) R1, R3 and R4 taken together form chromon-H-ol ring, and C1-C6 is each independently hydrogen, OR7 alkyl, halogen, OH or R7; R6 is methyl, and R2 is substituted piperidinyl or 8- azabicyclo (3, 2, 1) octanyl derivative provided that (a) if R5 and R1, R2, R3 and R4 are taken individually, then at least one of R2 is other than hydrogen; and (b) if R5 and R1, R3 and R4 are taken together, then at least one of
