FIELD: leather industry. SUBSTANCE: fish skin waste is frozen, ground, and unfrozen. Then, it is defatted with solution containing sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfate for 18-20 hr, washed with water for 30 min, and neutralized at one go with solution of ammonium sulfate in concentration corresponding to 4.5-5.0% of the weight of starting material for 90-120 C. All operations are carried out at room temperature. Finally, material is dissolved on organic acid and homogenized.
