FIELD: nondestructive acoustic method of examination of physical and mechanical properties of materials. SUBSTANCE: given process includes loading of standard and tested articles with indenter with change of indentation depth by means of its movement along arc of circle, recording of signals of acoustic emission and evaluation of properties of material with the aid of comparison of signal parameters by separation criterion Ks from standard and tested articles found by dependence Ks = lg(Ec/τ2), where Ec is energy of pulses, τ is duration of pulses.
