FIELD: wood splitting equipment. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has trailer hitched to tow truck. Cutting head with knives is fastened in rear part of trailer chassis and thrust plate is mounted for longitudinal movement on chassis. Thrust plate is provided with drive for pressing wood block to knives for splitting. Drive has reducer disposed in front part of trailer. Reducer input shaft is connected to power shaft of tow truck and reduced output shaft is coupled with one end of lead screw. Other end of lead screw is engageable with central threaded opening of carriage. Each end of carriage is provided with opening having smooth surface and adapted for receiving guiding rod extending in parallel with lead screw and attached with its ends in supports mounted on chassis. Thrust plate is positioned on outer end of bar whose inner end is secured on carriage. Bar has cavity for receiving lead screw, when carriage is moving along lead screw.
