FIELD: food-processing industry and forestry, in particular, reprocessing of plant substances, may be used for cracking and removal of cedar shell for obtaining undamaged nut used in fat-and-oil and confectionery industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves drying having with natural moisture content; destructing nut and sieving undamaged nut free of shell. Apparatus has feeding hopper, doser, feeder, destructing mechanism, sieve with openings for undamaged nut free of shell. Destructing mechanism has casing, rotary shaft secured inside casing and provided with resilient covering, frame with working surface and gap adjusting screw. Frame has planar working surface. Cedar nut is destructed in gap between shaft and frame. Nuts free of shell are separated on sieve.
