FIELD: technology of inorganic materials, more particularly electrotechnical industry. SUBSTANCE: cobalt-containing concentrate is placed into reactor, 94% sulfuric acid is added. On addition of sulfuric acid, H2O2 is added at rate of 0.7-0.8 cubic dm/min. Temperature is maintained at 90-100 C. Cobalt to H2O2 weight ratio is (1.5-2):1. Dissolution is carried out to pH of 1.6-2.0 and neutralized with cobalt carbonate at pH of 4.0-4.5. Precipitate is separated by centrifugation. Cobalt /II/ sulfate is filtered, acidified with hydrosulfuric acid to pH of 1.0-3.0. Acidified solution is evaporated, crystallized and compressed. Yield of cobalt /II/ sulfate is 95-96.8 wt %. EFFECT: process uses simple equipment and has low power consumption. 2 cl, 1 ex, 2 tbl
