FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: wastes of samarium-cobalt magnets are dissolved in nitric acid; obtained solution is treated with ammonia to pH equal to not less than 3 with oxidation of cobalt (II) to cobalt (III) so that cobalt ammoniate is formed. Then, samaric oxalate is deposited with ammonium oxalate at consumption of ammonium oxalate of 1.6-2 mol/mol of samarium. The rest impurities are deposited with sodium hydroxide solution; cobalt (III) is reduced to cobalt (II), and cobalt (II) hydroxide is deposited.
EFFECT: increasing cobalt extraction degree.
