FIELD: chemical technology of fluorine compounds. SUBSTANCE: pentafluoroethane is prepared by catalytic gas phase hydrofluorination of perchloroethylene on mixture of perchloroethylene and hydrogen-containing halogenethanes at 330-465 C, HF to hydrofluorazable products of molar ratio of 4-40: 1, contact time of 5-60 g on catalyst comprising 8-24% of chromium 3 fluoride uniformly distributed in magnesium fluoride.
