FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of synthesis of pentafluoroethane by fluorination of halogen- compound with metal fluoride of transient valency. Process is carried out in the presence of diluting agent with isolation of the end product by the known procedures. 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane (coolant-134a) or 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethane (coolant-134) are used as the parent halogenorganic compound. Uranium hexafluoride in gaseous phase is used as metal fluoride of transient valency. Tetrafluoroethane and hexafluoroethane are used as diluting agents.
