FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes mixing of components including dolomite and iron-containing material by their combined wet grinding to obtain material with specific surface of 2500-3000 sq.sm/g; roasting of produced mixture in rotary furnace in oxidizing atmosphere at temperature of 1360-1450 C. Produced flux contains iron oxides in amount of 5-15%. In this case, with amount of iron oxides in flux exceeding the specified values, roasting temperature is reduced by 10% per cent of its increase. After cooling, fraction sizing less than 5 mm is separated from flux and returned to rotary furnace. EFFECT: produced lumpy flux, not destructible in transportation and storage, Suitable for converters with magnesite lining, minimum power consumption. 2 cl, 2 tbl
