FIELD: metallurgical production, namely plates of molds of plants for continuous casting of steels and other metals. SUBSTANCE: continuous casting mold includes plate-walls made of copper or its alloys and having wear- and heat-resistant coating on their working surfaces. Working surface of mold wall has regular microrelief whose ridges are oriented normally relative to direction of ingot motion; their real surface area exceeds nominal value by 1.2-1.5 times. Distance between ridges of microrelief is equal to (0.3-2)mm, depth values of recesses are set according to ingot motion in range (20-200) micrometers. Thickness of coatings is equal to depth of recesses between ridges. Regular microrelief is formed under coating on wall surface, coating is applied uniformly in the form of layer following apexes and recesses of relief. Regular microrelief may be formed by layer of variable-thickness coating or by layer of coating with variable heat expansion factor changing along motion direction of ingot with pitch equal to (10-20) mm. EFFECT: lowered friction losses, enhanced cooling efficiency due to formation of lubricant layer between plate and ingot surfaces subjected to wear. 5 cl, 3 dwg, 1 ex
