FIELD: metallurgical production, namely metal continuous casting. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of forming curvilinear surface of wide face in mold and then in secondary cooling zone acting upon solidified skin of double-phase ingot for straightening its surface in direction of protrusion of dividing roller; providing constant length of surface of wide face of ingot from time moment of forming ingot until making rectilinear surface of divided ingot and calculating it according to formula: Lkp= Lkp•(n+1)+2(Lpr+hpp)•n, where Lpz- length of surface of wide face of divided billet, mm; n - number of dividing protrusions of dividing roller; Lpr- length of working portion of dividing roller, mm; hpp- width of upper face of dividing roller, mm. EFFECT: possibility of making high quality ingot due to reduced cracking at local action upon skin of solidified ingot with lower degree of segregation processes, increased rate of metal casting. 3 dwg, 1 ex
