FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed drive system for steps and platforms of escalators and moving side-walks has transportation chain arranged at step or platform side which includes large number of chain rollers engaging with bushings and at least partially connected with steps or platforms. Outer plates 47, 48 are rigidly secured on chain rollers 42. Inner plates 49, 50 are secured on bushings 44. Sealing members 53, 54 are installed in zone of both end faces of bushings 44. Chain rollers 42 are formed by casehardened electroplated steel pins, and bushings 44 are made of improved quality casehardened steel with electroplating. At least one sliding bearing passes between chain rollers 42 and bushings 44. Sliding bearing consists of thin-walled plastic bushing 45, 46 which can be fiber reinforced, if necessary. Thin lubricating film can be applied as initial lubricant between chain rollers 42 and sliding bearing. EFFECT: enhanced convenience in operation and safety of drive system. 41 cl, 6 dwg
