FIELD: manufacture of refractory building bricks or units used for repairing or making furnaces, more particularly repairing locally worn-out surface of refractory silicic material in industrial furnaces, glasss making furnaces. SUBSTANCE: method comprises forcing solid refractory particles, solid silicon particles and gaseous oxygen onto surface so that reaction between silicon particles and gaseous oxygen occurs on surface to cause evolution of reaction heat to form bonded refractory compound comprising cristobalite where solid refractory particles comprise silica in the form of vitreous silica and that temperature of surface on which they are forced out is at least 1000 C. EFFECT: high-grade refractory bricks and compatibility and adhesion cohesion of new material with base one on which the former is formed. 10 cl, 2 ex
