FIELD: microbiology, biotechnology, antibiotics. SUBSTANCE: strain Saccharopolyspora erythraea 52 is obtained from the parent strain S. erythraea 5 by selection on agarized medium with antibiotic neomycin followed by isolation of mutants eliciting the resistance to neomycin (concentration is 130 mcg/ml), mutant selection exhibiting the highest production of erythromycin (8000 mcg/ml, not less) and its control for ability to retain the increased production of erythromycin constantly.
