FIELD: environment control technology. SUBSTANCE: method relates to oil and gas production industry. According to method, earth pit is built. Its surface open atop is covered with continuous horizontal panel. Clearance of 0.15-0.35 m is left from upper horizontal edge of earth pit. Ribs are rigidly secured over perimeter of horizontal panel. Ribs are directed downwards and are equally distant from side walls of oil trap. Surface area of continuous panel is by 15-20% larger than surface area of oil trap. At 5-10 days before migratory spring coming of birds, surface of earth pit and oil trap is covered with screen. Continuous masking screen is installed on framework with clearance of 0.75-1.2 m above maximal foreseen level of drilling waste. Lower edges of side surface of screen are fastened by anchors to earth base. Oil is periodically pumped out of oil trap. Application of method ensures fauna-safe storing of drilling waste together with uninterrupted well construction cycle. In addition, fouling of atmospheric air with hydrocarbons is reduced.
