METHOD FOR DETERMINING NEUTRON- CAPTURING ONCOLOGICAL PREPARATIONS EFFECTIVENESS IN EXPERIMENTS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves selecting the most promising agents for applying neutron-capturing therapy form gadolinium- and boron- containing compounds. The compounds are mixed with animal tumor cell culture suspensions. Suspension or cell volume is 1.5 ml containing cells in the amount of 107-109/ml. Preparation quantity is to provide 0.3-0.4 mg/ml of boron or 70-90 mg/ml of gadolinium contents. The so produced mixture of gadolinium- and/or boron-containing compounds is irradiated with heat neutrons flow (108-109 heat neutrons/cm2*s) during 30-60 min. Laboratory animals having reinoculated tumors are used as controls. The results as tumor availability and volume in the case group are compared to those observed in a series of control groups composed of animals having reinoculated tumors.
