FIELD: solar-to- electric energy conversion. SUBSTANCE: converter has semiconductor plate whose rear surface is coated with solder layer and effective front surface carries current-collecting metal contacts and silicone adhesive layer used to attach safety glass coating to plate; novelty is that safety coating is made of alkali- free aluminophosphate glass to build up internal electric field due to ionizing radiation; outer surface of safety coating is covered with water repelling film, 0.5 to 15 mcm thick. This ensures more than two-fold increase service life of solar battery operating under conditions of electronic ionizing radiation and 1.5-fold decrease in rate of radiation degradation of converter, as well as long-time stability of internal electric field.
